    13 FL Studio Tricks You Didn’t Know

    FL Studio is one of the most popular and debated DAWs out there. Bright interface, known for flexibility in workflow and a great deal of features along with integrated pluginsFL Studio offers it all. But within this large toolkit lie some shortcuts that will really speed up the music-making process.

    1. AUTOMATION CLIP:

    To swiftly save time, utilize this seldom-used trick: double-click the first automation clip and navigate to the setting. Click the small icon (or the drop-down menu for the new version of FL STUDIO), then simply copy and paste to other automation clips.

    2. SHOW/HIDE MIXER EFFECTS:

    Easily reveal all effects from a mixer by right-clicking on the effects slot. Conversely, hide them all with the same action.

    3. SHOW INSTRUMENTS:

    While editing notes in a pattern, effortlessly display the current instrument by right-clicking on its name at the top.

    4. RESET ROUTING TO MASTER:

    Resetting the routing number of a channel to default (the master) is a breeze. Hold Alt and left-click to execute.

    5. SELECT/DESELECT 2 OR MORE CHANNELS:

    To select two or more channels randomly, hold Shift and left-click them individually. Conversely, for consecutive selection or deselection, maintain Shift and left-click while dragging across channels.

    6. RESET ANY KNOBS:

    A quick reset of knobs is achieved by holding Alt and left-clicking. For third-party plugins, hold Ctrl and left-click.

    7. HIDE ALL WINDOWS:

    Hit the F12 keyboard to hide all windows. This offers a fresh perspective when things seem cluttered.

    8. SOLO/UNSOLO:

    Solo or unsolo everything in the playlist, channel rack, or mixer by holding Ctrl or Alt and left-clicking.

    9. LOCK ITEMS:

    Lock items in the playlist, channel rack, or mixer by holding Shift and left-clicking. This ensures they remain unaffected by solo actions and enables multi-selection.

    10. ASSIGNED MIXER:

    Double-click on the routing number in the channel rack to reveal its corresponding mixer channel.

    11. GHOST NOTES:

    Use ghost notes by pressing Alt + V while on a pattern to aid in identifying other channels' notes. Double right-click to reveal the real notes and their channel location.

    12. PIANO ROLLS:

    Jump between piano rolls seamlessly without opening the channel rack. Hold Shift + J for the next one, or Shift + H for the previous one.

    13. RENAME ANYTHING:

    Rename entities swiftly across FL Studio with Shift + left-click. Whether it’s in the mixer, pattern, channel rack, or playlist, this shortcut streamlines the process.
